Paraffin Wax Bath
Urban Retreat at Harrods is one of the few places that still offers our customers the Paraffin Wax Bath Treatment. One of the simplest and most effective body treatments in the beauty world, we invite you to share this unique experience with your Victorian foresisters, who might have enjoyed it at the original Harrods' Beauty Parlour, centuries ago. In an industry where new treatments and products are constantly being developed and improved, only a handful have stood the test of time and Urban Retreat therapist Mitzi Scheiderer has been practicing this ancient treatment for twenty eight years for hundreds of delighted clients, Helene Pavlo for nineteen years.
Suitable for women of all ages, the Paraffin Wax Bath treatment was historically used in hospitals to relieve patients of rheumatic aches and pains, and today the Urban Retreat experts are able to harness the benefits of this traditional experience to enable their clients to emerge with silkier, more supple, completely transformed skin.
What is involved in the treatment?
Fifteen litres of wax is heated up to a temperature of 38/39 degrees. The treatment begins by brushing the wax all over the body, followed by a full immersion. The client is then left to luxuriate in a warm cocoon wrap to allow the wax to set and deeply nourish the skin. (Water is provided throughout the treatment to avoid dehydration.) The wax is then carefully peeled off to reveal rejuvenated skin, and a revitalising shower helps to bring balance back to the mind and body.
- Soothes aches, pains, tired and sore muscles
- Cleanses and Detoxifies
- Leaves skin feeling soft and smooth
- Aids with water retention (One treatment is recommended twice per month for the best results)
- Particularly beneficial if you have a cold or flu
It is recommended that a 30 minute massage and hair appointment is booked afterwards to help you feel completely rejuvenated and ready to face the world again.
