Bringing you the best beauty interviews every Sunday

Laura Gravestock

The talented, creative and award winning jewellery designer Laura Gravestock is this week’s We Love Sunday’s guest. After a childhood spent in Spain and the Middle East, Laura has settled in East London, where she lives and works. In her studio she creates feminine, elegant, everyday jewellery that is so loved by her fans (including many famous personalities) it has become a fashion press favourite. We talk about busy schedules, travelling and future goals…

Sunday Brunch Spot:

St Johns, Spitalfields. Their bacon sandwiches are unadulterated bliss and we often follow them with one of their equally sinful doughnuts.

Bliss out treatment:

A Pedicure whilst sat in a massage chair is my favourite way to relax - now the weather is warmer and toes will be on display, a great Pedi is essential.

Whisky & ginger with a twist of lime.

Saturday Night - Dancing till dawn or takeaway and a movie?

Ooh, that’s hard to choose and totally depends on my mood – I love a good dance, but there’s a lot to be said for chilling at home with a takeaway and movie.

My favorite beauty products

Favourite day of the week:

Thursday – we’re not far from the weekend, but there’s still enough time to tie up any loose ends before we relax.

My top health and fitness tip:

If you can stretch to it, get yourself a personal trainer. I’ve had one for about 6 months now and the difference vs going to the gym alone has been amazing – it’s much easier to stay motivated when someone is setting you goals.

Top tip you have learnt from an industry expert:

Try not to worry what other people are doing – focus on what you’re doing, because that’s the thing you have the power to change.

What’s your beauty mantra?

Never go to sleep without removing your make up – your skin will thank you for it.

If you had an extra hour in your day, how would you choose to spend it?

If I’m honest, I would probably end up working for an extra hour, but ideally it would be spent curled up on the sofa with my boyfriend, watching a really good film (can I have 2 hours, just in case it’s a long film?)

When you create a piece of jewellery, where does the inspiration for a particular piece come from?

Mostly, I take inspiration from my surroundings and travels – living in the Middle East as a child inspired my Promise collection, while a trip to Barcelona was the inspiration for my Talon Collection. We’ve just come back from Mexico, so I’m excited to see what comes from that!

What is the most precious thing you have been given?

My mum’s eternity ring, it’s a simple band with dainty engraving and set with tiny stones – it’s not worth lots, but I treasure it and wear it every day with my Diamond Stacker ring and Written Love ring.

You have a loyal customer following and it’s a firm favourite with many famous personalities, who has been your most surprising fan?

Rather than surprised, I’d say I feel very lucky to count Gwyneth Paltrow & Taylor Swift as fans of my jewellery. But to be honest, I think all my customers are brilliant – they’re so loyal and bought my jewellery from the beginning – I wouldn’t be where I am without their support.

What’s on your summer bucket list?

A trip to Bath – I’ve wanted to visit for ages but never got round to it, so we’ll definitely be visiting this summer. A swim in the London Fields Lido Hanging all the prints and pictures in our flat – we’ve been buying pieces and not put up a single one, so I can’t wait to get them all on the walls!

What are the last three things you bought on your bankcard?

The ingredients from Waitrose to make raspberry chocolate macarons. A gorgeous summer maxi dress from Oasis. My breakfast from Pret a Manger .
