DAY-GLO LIPS
The perfect partner to the coming seasons’ colour blocking and neon trends, a pop of intense colour on the lips is the freshest way to update your make-up look for Spring ’11. There is no artistry or skill required to replicate this fashion forward face- all that is required is creamy skin and a slick of lipstick straight from the bullet. “Orange is a huge colour for spring” says make-up maestro and catwalk artist and Tom Pecheux who created the tangerine mouths at Marni. “A matte finish is unexpected, but orange gloss is softer”

GLAZED HAIR
From the lacquered buns at Versace and Prada to the tight rolls at Yves Saint Laurent, hairstylists behind the catwalks of Paris, Milan and London were emptying pots of Bumble and Bumble Sumowax left right and centre this season. Hair guru Guido who created the tightest, slickest up-do’s in Milan and Paris said his buzz-words this season are “shine” and “gloss”. Hairstylist Orlando Pita revealed that using hairspray instead of gel to create the style makes the look more wearable off the catwalk. “The hair is glossy but you can just brush it out the next day instead of having to wash it.” Stylish AND slovenly, love it.

RAINBOW SHADOW
Lilac and green and pink, oh my! The make-up teams at Dior, Mary Katranzou and Derek Lam came over all girly and used a palette of fruity, sugared-almond shades to awash models’ eyelids with colour. In a season that has, by-and-large, paid homage to gothic and minimalistic beauty, it is refreshing to see some colours that are normally associated with summer being given the autumn/winter treatment.
